I am very excited to be in Milan and attend my first ever European fashion show for the new Versace Men Spring/Summer 2017 collection. The show opened with a film that Versace produced alongside Bruce Weber featuring Prince songs on two large screens behind the runway. Right after, the room got dark and all the attention was directed to the triangular-shaped, illuminated runway.
The opening outfit was an olive green parachute jacket combined with sporty leggings, setting an athletic tone for the entire show. The collection was influenced by sports and movement showing lots of skin in almost every look. Designs were based on muted colors in blue, green, purple, and black – upgrading the traditional Versace underwear to cycling shorts or regular jackets to floor-length parkas. There were light summer coats, suits, and beautiful trousers, mostly paired with the new spring trend consisting of socks and sandals. For the finale all the models lined up across the runway, allowing an opulent entrance for Donatella bowing to the guests and closing her ready-to-wear Men Spring/Summer collection 2017.
After the show I went backstage to take a closer look on the collection. I also got the chance to personally greet Donatella and congratulate her on the amazing new collection. It was a very big moment because I just arrived to Milan a few hours before and already met the face behind the house of Versace. The entire production was much more than just a fashion show, it a was an unforgettable event, which marked my entrance to the European market as a fashion blogger.
My day with Versace was not over yet. From the show location I went to the Mudec (Museo delle Culture di Milano) were the official Versace dinner was held with only a limited amount of guests. In fact, next to a few VIP customers, buyers, and collectors, I was the only fashion blogger present. We started the evening with a private tour through the current exhibition “The Force of Matter” by Spanish artist Joan Miró before an excellent dinner surrounded by extraordinary people.
Thank you Versace for this remarkable experience, for welcoming me in Milan, and for appreciating my work!
