When it comes to Malafacha, you can expect anything but a regular fashion presentation. As a tribute to Mexican culture, the brand created a Spring/Summer ’17 collection based on one of the oldest and most traditional markets in Mexico City – el Mercado de Sonora, which is famous for its pottery, herbal medicine, as well as items related to magic and the occult. All these characteristics could be seen during the show and the designs on the runway. The looks were inspired by classic Mexican working clothes, mostly in earth tones like pottery adorned with patterns, prints, and symbols reflecting Mexican art and folklore. The collection included wide crape dresses, asymmetric combinations of men skirts, wests, and jackets with metallic details. My favorite part of the presentation was the extraordinary make-up inspired by the Masks of Michoacán together with the live music performed by La Rumorosa, who created a mystic and spiritual atmosphere!
